Except unlike Western comics and stories, Japan tends to be under "Creator is God," mentality where most continuity is only by the author and everything else fanfic. It's not like DC/Marvel where these guys and hundreds of writers have a say. Like the the current Dragon Ball, unless Toriyama appointed someone after death to carry it on that he gave notes to, everything after his death is now non-canon.

If he did give them Haki in Wano, that just means that their base stats wouldn’t be as high as they are now to keep them at the same power level.
Man Oda fumbled so hard with the SH’s power ups in Wano. Franky just got power creeped instead of being given a new powerup. All that Chopper got was a time extension on Monster Point. All that Nami got was Zeus, which she already had at the beginning of the arc. Brook and Usopp just got nothing. Robin got basic Fishman Karate and Demonio, which are ok but could’ve been done better imo.
It’s really annoying because there were some really easy layups.
Chopper could have gotten the Ice Oni virus as a power up. The virus drains your stamina in exchange for boosting your stats, and since Chopper has the antidote, he could’ve injected himself with the virus to boost his stats temporarily, and it would even stack with his Zoan forms. It’d add an interesting dynamic to Chopper’s fighting style since he has a time limit mechanic to deal with, and gets to incorporate his medical skills into his fighting style. He should have also gotten basic CoA to make him hit harder.
Nami should have also gotten Prometheus (what even happened to him after Meme’s defeat?). It would improve the versatility and potency of her weather-based fighting style. As a side note, I remember there was a popular theory that Monet’s DF would reincarnate into one of Nami’s tangerines since they probably would be the closest fruits. It would be so cool if Nami got that DF and both Zeus and Prometheus. She’d be the ultimate weather-based fighter who has control over fire, snow, and lightning. She should have also gotten at least CoO since it would fit her personality and fighting style better than CoA
Usopp should have refined his CoO more and unlocked basic CoA. He’s bound to surpass his father, who is Shanks’s number 3. Problem is that Usopp is still so weak, despite us being in the final saga, that it is probably gonna take an asspull for Usopp to quickly reach that level. Imo Usopp should have beaten either Page One or a 10% HP Jack (post Inuarashi fight, which Jack really should’ve won tbh). I’d have preferred the latter since it would give Oda an excuse to give Usopp a 1B bounty and continue the gag of Usopp’s bounties being massively inflated.
Shogun Franky being close to Vet level was believable enough, but he still should’ve gotten CoA and CoO imo.
Robin should’ve also gotten CoA and CoO on top of her Fishman Karate PU.
Brook also should’ve gotten CoA + CoO, and he should’ve gotten to fight a F6. I’d have given WsW to Brook (obviously WsW wouldn’t be the strongest F6 in this alternate timeline), and Smoothie to Jinbe since both get stronger when fighting near water and Smoothie was criminally underused despite being a YC2
