Can't pretend like Oda had no idea where he was taking Luffy when the entire One Piece world is connected to ancient flood mythology connected to ancient gods.

Ya'll could have just reread/rewatched Skypiea to know you were wrong

LOL

Oda's been foreshadowing Luffy as a warrior of liberation worshipped as someone who defeats evil gods since Skypiea, arguably Orange Town since Buggy most likely will be the God of the Pirates. Croc fits, as well.

Clearly, Oda has been setting up the WG as endgame enemies since the Gorosei were introduced in

So... Oda have these gods planned, and their boss, Imu, planned... but not Luffy?

Okay.

Ya'll have had enough fun. You're wrong.

Nika isn't a retcon, you just don't like Sun God Nika and Gear 5. And that's okay.

Trying to retcon other gods in the series because you hate Luffy having a Naruto-like plotline won't change the fact that Oda planned all this out, at least in a general sense.

It's easy to retroactively add details to tie previously seemingly unimportant story elements back into the forefront. The problem is that by itself, without later details being added much later, there's no way to use anything in Skypiea as evidence to support the idea of Nika of being a thing.

The foreshadowing is there.

One Piece is just suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper long, so, it's taken us forever to actually reach Gear 5/Luffy's Awakening.

Oda explored Devil Fruit Awakenings as early as Impel Down (I think it might have been earlier but can't find it). Do you expect me to believe Oda only started thinking about Luffy's Devil Fruit Awakening after Skypiea? No, Nika was part of the story from day one, just hidden within the narrative. If anything, Oda did too good of a job hiding it.

I can agree Nika wasn't really a retcon.

But the build-up was rather weak.
Yep. Oda tried to hide it, and it made the reveal a little... uh... oh...

I love Gear 5 still, but, the Sun God build up in Wano really just came out of nowhere in Wano Act 3, should have been built up in at least Act 2.

Fitting in a "oh by the way Luffy is a god" plot drop in the raid with no build up just... was a bit too stunning, maybe?

Also Who's Who being the person to start this whole thing is... uh... a choice. If anything, Yamato should have been the one to explain to Luffy the significance of who he is, and tie that into her dream.

That's my opinion, though, I still think it was a decent reveal. Oda was just... really pushing himself through Wano at times, I think. Just such an ambitious arc. The anime did a lot to fix some issues I had with it, while creating a few new ones (...Batman...)

It was GG with this panel right here.

This is how the Skypiea Saga began.

That's literally how the Nika fruit works. Anything Luffy imagines, he can turn into reality. Anyone who thinks it was a retcon after seeing that panel is straight up in denial.
I think this is about Devil Fruits. It may be about both, but I think it's just Devil Fruits.
Remember what Vegapunk said about wishes.

To be honest, the ability of the Nika fruit and the creation of Devil Fruits are very similar. It makes you wonder if Joyboy had a hand in the process of creating devil fruits.
A lot of people say Lili had the paw fruit and spread the Poneglyphs around the world, I'm willing to bet her and Joyboy spread Devil Fruits around the world as well.
Only problem is it's implied Joyboy also had the Nika fruit somehow.

Something actually just dawned on me about the whole thing when I said Joyboy might have had a hand in creating the Devil Fruits. Gonna make a thread on it, as I believe I might be onto something.

Yes, he did and he will also have in the end.

At the end of one piece, luffy wills all DFs out of existence and they stop existing.

There will be no DF users anymore

Where was all the foreshadowing for the entire series if it was planned... Why was information only revealed just before the reveal... Even though there is no gum gum fruit.... Why no one(let alone WG) took any steps against the sole major threat to them... :kuzanshut:
If it was planned... Then oda is the worst writer to ever exist as he did not good setup for one of thr major plot point in 1000 chaptees

It was easy to tell what would happen to Luffy eventually.

He was going to become enlightened. He did that when he became awakened.

I believe the story dropped hints about that many times, but the readers never picked up on it.

I even made threads saying White Haki and Dark Haki were things, but nobody listened. Then, we saw Awakenings and they had White Clouds/Black Clouds wrapping around them like Heavenly Warriors.

To me, it was an obvious development that needed to happen.

Regarding Devil Fruits, it's about Life Force Energy. Joyboy became a God, and what he had become was a new thing in the universe. Therefore, his Life Force Energy constituted a new Devil Fruit (The Mythical Human-Human Fruit Model: Sun God Nika).

It's still a Human Devil Fruit.

That reminds me... The Straw Hat crew has 2 Hito Hito no Mi. Chopper has the original Human-Human Fruit and Luffy has a mythical one.

Devil Fruits encompass ALL THINGS. You have to question that - how did humans get Life Force Energy that would constitute the creation of a Devil Fruit? Haki is probably the answer. It's the ONLY THING that conquers everything else. That's the key phrase.
