Im just trying to understand why some Zoro fans think this way? I mean usually you never see this in other fandoms but here in this forum Ive seen such a take a few times.

Im thinking that maybe this is their first shounen experience and they dont know how things are.

there are some points in the manga where Zoro was stronger and then they were equal but for sure at this point Luffy is stronger!

also majority of shounen were the MC has someone close to him the 2 of them will always be comparable until the very end where the MC pulls ahead, to me you being shocked by this is making me think this is your first shounen experience and you clearly haven't been reading or understanding battle focused shounen!

i mean the closest we have to the dynamic between Luffy, Zoro and Sanji is that of Yusuke, Hiei and Kurama, and arguments can be made that at points Hiei > Yusuke and Kurama = Hiei at some just like we have with the monster trio

Zoro was badly injured by Mihawk in Arlong Park arc. Arlong shitted himself looking at Zoro's wound, while same Arlong threw Luffy to the pond. Without the villagers, Arlong would have legit beat Luffy by drowning him.
