I wouldn't doubt it, but knowing how to navigate never made sense to me in the grand scheme of things, just to find an island? Something that's hidden by... let's say otherworldly methods like how the Grandline functions but even greater or something.
Navigation is just getting from Point A to Point B but for sea travel. Oda has never really touched upon this.
