The strawhat is pretty much the promise, the inherited will, that someday someone will come to free the world. That will happen by the end so no need of another hat unless you expect a One Piece Super Shippuden with the adventures of Mika the daughter of Nika and Hancock

Completely agree.
Then again, plenty of DFs can create a different, parallel, or pocket dimension. The strawhat can be used as a promised inside one such mini-worlds for a SH descendant to liberate in a spin-off.

Actually you have a point, Luffy should indeed be the last link as he will solve the problem still I don't see Oda throwing in the bin the symbol of his precious inherited will (among other stuff), also Oda would have to be a serious writer to actually end the story once and for all. But we actually should expect the next gen for OP too eventually.
