imo Killer will unlock his Nika powers first. Perhaps Shanks’s divine departure caused Killer to awaken, allowing him to save Kid and himself. A parallel to Bepo saving Law.

Anyways I think in the final war, Killer will go back to wano and show the other pleasures the full power of their fruit. Helping them fully become Nikas as well.

Ultimately I think we will get a scene of Kid leading an army of Nikas into mariejois or something.

I will say tho. Even the working smiles were pretty defective. So I don’t know the extent to which the pleasures can use Nika powers.

If I were to guess, while the pleasures can’t stretch like Luffy, I think they could use other powers of Nika. Specifically the enhanced strength/stamina/speed and possibly Nika’s flames(red hawk/red roc).

The Killer thing is not only a big stretch, but it still can't happen anyway, because DF users can't move in water no matter what.
It's more likely they get caught in some type of current/tide (possibly a side effect because of the Lulusia stuff having effects on the water in a big part of the world) and get washed ashore on an island, like Big Mom when she fell in the water in Wano.

I guess them just washing up on shore like Luffy and BM did in wano is the obvious choice. But given how Oda has shown vice captains routinely saving their captain, I think this might be another route he’d take.

Killer awakened Nika powers before getting sunk and saved Kid. But the whole thing was offscreened for tension’s sake. It is an asspull, but really no bigger one that what Oda pulled with Bepo.

Bepo wasn't really an asspull. An asspull implies that it's something really random and borderline (if not completely) nonsensical. It makes sense Chopper would give him a drug that lets him go Sulong. And it makes sense Chopper could do that.

Perhaps the pleasure/ Nika theory could work but it would be executed in a better way.

like Vegapunk seeing Killer in elbaf, recognizing the potential of the smile, and creating some medicine that can do that. And we only really see the payoff for it in the final war where the pleasures use Nika powers.

That being said, I would argue that the fact Nika is already established as a zoan power, and the fact that artificial zoans have the potential to make one laugh uncontrollably is already set up enough for Oda to just give Killer Nika powers whenever he returns.

I don't like this at all, but if you're right, it would explain why Oda didn't have Chopper, Law, and the mink doc cure the Smile users. They'll become Nika's army, and suddenly all their suffering, laughing while their teeth fell out and their loved ones died, will be forgotten. Their autonomy will be taken from them twice! Haha, it was all for a good reason, aren't they having fun?!?
