Instead of a crescendo Oda does a decrescendo and the impact just fizzles out
Its always the same routine since Punk Hazard, although I think hints of it were already popping up since Sabaody. Oda uses ellipses way too often to convey a mystery or secrets but when he does eventually reveal what the characters were trying to convey, its always underwhelming or something super obvious. Vegapunk's message is probably the worst example of this. Its like if during Skypiea, instead of Enel and others outright mentioning Enel's homeland of Birka, we instead got characters always saying "..." and then getting a dozen reactions of people acting shocked in response to the name of his mystery country, only to get the revelation 8 or 10 years later in a very unimpactful way.
Ganfall: "Enel destroyed his own homeland, the sky island of ..."
[5 characters gasp in terrified reactions]
Enel: "I am from ... Those who hear the the true name of my land are sentenced to death!"
[10 characters react shocked and confused]
Satori: "This challenge is how we genocided our 'home'."
[30 characters lose their damn minds in reaction panels]
And then we wait a decade and its Nami on Weatheria with the old wizards where the mystery is revealed.
Nami: "So this place is just like Skypiea?"
[5 panels of wizards reacting in shock]
Haredas: "In a sense. Except we all came from a sky island called Birka. It was destroyed by some crazy guy called Enel, but all of the inhabitants escaped just in time, so no worries".
[50 panels of wizards reacting for no reason]
