DR is definitely way better. Egghead Island currently rivals Wano with Vegapunk having the worst speech in the entire manga. The characters are behaving like some NPC.
The Gorosei were reduced to jokes, mere punching bags.

Meanwhile you have the Doflamingo pirates, Pica, Diamante, Dellinger, Senior Pink, etc. Especially Doflamingo carried this arc being the best antagonist of this manga.

The people's struggle was real and sad, you had interesting side characters like Kyros, Don Sai, Cavendish, Bartolomeo, Don Chinjao, Hajrudin, etc. Meanwhile, I hate all Vegapunks. And all the other characters got really annoying with their constant Nika worshipping. They're not even looking into the MC as a unique individual, now it's just "Nika".
I hate the side characters y’all complain about Nika worshipping but hearing “God Usopp” over and over again based on a gag was way worse.

Barring Barto and Cavendish the fleet members are lame, the tontattas were wildly annoying, and the Doffy family barring Doffy Pica and Senor Pink were incredibly lame.

Doffy could only carry that arc so much for me but if I can’t stand the side characters I’m not going to like the arc. Meanwhile I’ve enjoyed the Vegapunks and Bonney and Kuma have been amazing side characters. Oda cutting off Stella’s speech at the Will of D section was lame I’ll agree but I’ve still enjoyed this side cast than the Dressrosa side cast.

The rest of the strawhats are also suffering of it. Now whom do they even follow? Luffy or Nika?
I really hope oda does something with that.

Preferably with zoro. He's been the one to ground goofy at times. He's the one who has held goofy responsible as the captain, telling him to get his shit together.

I hope Zoro calls out goofy and says outright that him being Nika rather than luffy and messing aound is actively causing problems.

But knowing oda, they won't face any consequences for being lead by a laughing buffoon.

Side characters in Dresrossa were actually interesting, and they did stuff.

Hakuba was amazing.
Chinjao, Barto and Sai were all right as well.

And they actually amounted to something - SH grand fleet, setting up well for Luffy becoming a Yonko

And Doflamingo is the best character of the story, period (IMO). Best villain too.

Dresrossa >>>>>>>>>> Egghead
Yep. It's not even a competition.
One Piece went downhill with the second part of WCI when Big Mom got reduced from a terrifying Yonko to a gigantic crying retard who consistently shouts at a wedding cake and got clowned by weak trio and Jimbei. After that, everything just went completely terrible.

Oda clearly needs new editors or a long, long, long break 1.) to focus on his health 2.) sharpening his writing skills again because let's be honest, Oda's writing is complete trash rn and if it was a newbie mangaka, it wouldn't even win the first competition against other mangas.

Sure, people can also just say "Fuck that shit, Oda doesn't have to care about his haters", yes, he doesn't have to listen to randoms. It's perfectly reasonable. However, it's worrisome if more and more people start to criticize each chapter in which the writing went off. He can give no fucks to 100 or 1000 people - but what if it starts reaching 6 digits of complainers?

Oda's weird fetish at creating his entire manga into a Looney Tunes ripoff really jeopardized every kind of enjoyment when it comes to Luffy. He was completely butchered and reduced to a dancing warrior god who plays baseball with his enemies. Haki? There is none, barely hardening if anything.
The rest of the strawhats are also suffering of it. Now whom do they even follow? Luffy or Nika?
I often see fans try to dismiss this point by claiming that One Piece was always silly Looney Tune trolling, which is pure bull.

Part of the appeal of OP is that it could take something silly and comical like Looney Tunes gags or Popeye fights like stretching or inflating your arms for punches, filling yourself with water or bouncing off bullets and actually have the character use them seriously, like say Luffy vs Arlong. You have this heartless fishman whose been torturing and enslaving some girl her whole life and who fights by biting off flesh and using a serrated blade, pretty brutal tactics, then you have this lanky silly kid who fights ridiculously and can only stretch like a rubber band, but he isn't doing it to be funny, he's doing it because this is the only way he can protect others and you could tell he put his heart into every punch for the sake of staying alive or for others, and he knew that every move counted because one wrong move could lead to his actual death as was almost the case with Crocodile.

He would face every foe including Foxy (who was a bigger clown than Buggy) with all the serious and tension he could muster even if he looked silly fighting to others, but he was in fact fighting with everything he had even with the limits he was given, especially against a cheater like Foxy because he refused to lose even one of his friends to some guy who would gladly trade them away in a contest without a second thought.

There were risks and there was tension in spite of the silliness. Now its all just:

That and wanking the all powerful deity who was never an underdog, he was always the great chosen one who could never lose because destiny was literally on his side.

Back then, I always thought the lightning saving Luffy from getting his head chopped off was Dragon's doing or a one time bit of luck, but now after seeing Fraudgon in action and Nika wank, it seems more likely that this will be just be explained away as more Nika chosen one bs.
