Starting to lean to this too but it had to happen this arc, not in the future. Don't really see any use for this plot in the future.
Oda waits far too long to answer a question or a mystery, even for minor things, and when he finally gets around to answering something like whether or not Kizaru gets a happy ending or dies or explains why he is so damn bipolar, it will feel like the moment has passed. Even worse if he saves it for an SBS aimed at himself Noda Skywalker.

Post-Enies Lobby and Post-Alabasta were gems for actually providing answers and focusing on some extended Straw Hat R&R, along with giving us some well-deserved interactions and development between the characters, especially Aokiji and Robin, Luffy and Coby, or Usopp, the giants and the crew. If Oda bothered to those more often, it would help to tie up every arc rather well.

Closest thing that comes to mind to an arc like that post-timeskip is Zou, but aside from being lackluster, that didn't really provide any answers and the minks (and their elephant) ended up being painfully underused.

Some people would say: "big W for Zoro fans"
I say "good morning, Oda revealed the most obvious shit."
Sad, now Zoro becomes a genetic product, apart from the fact that he is the guy who is in the statistic of "1 in 1 million people has the color of conqueror". It seems like Oda can't write main characters that are strong without the power of convenience. It would be much better if Zoro was a random guy and if the conqueror's haki wasn't a genetic lottery.

It’s sadly unlikely for a Shonen

Now? Zoro's always been the deuteragonist, only mental midgets push against it just like they cope, seethe and mald about the importance of his goals and his position in the Strawhats. :ohreally:
