Character Discussion Why did Oda turn the Gorosei into the clones of the same single braincelled evildoer who behave like caricatures?

They were much more interesting in their several sporadic appearances throughout the manga before they started screaming about insects every chapter. Ju Peter showed some humanity and looked distressed during Ohara and Topman seemed to care about human-fishman relations unlike his lower ranking brethen who just saw the latter as slaves/pets. These moments gave you the impression that the Gorosei were meant to be selfish, cold, and evil, but not mustache twirling villains, the kind that would commit pointless evil just to meet their weekly evil quota. But now that Oda made them the main antagonists of Egghead all the depth they had shown prior vanished and they're relegated to having the same stock Celestial Dragon personality. I was really hoping that each Gorosei would be a unique character with unique personality but it seemed like Oda just took the worst aspects of Big Mom and Kaido (stupidity for the former and the lack of depth for the latter), injected them into 5 random Celestial Dragons, and labeled them endgame villains.

But hey as stupid as Big Mom was she didn't call herself the Warrior God of Scientific Defense and still failed to check whether Vegapunk planted a functioning bomb inside Kuma or not.

Lolda bit off more than he could chew. There was just no way to develop and hype each one of the Gorosei when there was already Kizaru, plus all the info dump going on in this arc. I don't know why there was all this summoning stuff. Saturn, by himself, was more than enough for the Egghead arc, being tied to Kuma's backstory and all

I got the impression he'll be dropping characters dead left and right to end the manga.

Kid and Law got done dirty. I disagree with the outcomes and the battles. Emeth will drop a nuke on the Gorosei.

He did not seem stressed. You interpreted it that way.
Agree with the general sentiment though. They used to be better characters.
What emotion was he showing then? People normally don't put their hand on their forehead and grit their teeth while getting rid of insects.
If you mean the shadow in your right picture, that's Saturn.
Saturn's beard covered the entire lower half of his face.

Oda forgot entirely how he initially wrote them. It's quite a shame and dare I argue kinda lazy.

He'll use the old chapters as a reference when he's drawing characters he hasn't drawn in at least a decade, but can't be bothered to read his own dialogue smh.
Oh he read them, remember when they entrusted Spandam to ensure a ancient weapon?
:sanmoji:
No wonder they are retarded in egghead

VP said he doesn't know who is right and who is wrong.
There is absolutely no justification for shit like Hod valley where the Celestial dragons just casually go around killing entire civilizations for sport… like not even anything to do with Obtaining resources or even obtaining slaves or anything whatsoever… They just like killing entire countries and civilizations

I mean all of the WG seems to have plot induced retardness. Imagine recruting Fukuro as an assassin and spy.
Sure buts that's a direct interaction
They were even so confident in spandam that they granted him a personal audience

I feel like that's one of the chapters oda want us to forget lol
