Same as Kiwi - someone invited me on OJ (Oro Jackson, a longtime pillar in the OP community and this forum’s spiritual predecessor @BangMi) a couple of days before it shut down; I wasn’t a registered user on there long, so I wanted to get in early here.

Nice so you are an OG of WG.

Hovering over people's profiles it looks like a ton of people joined in 2019, it seems like a lot of people from OJ migrated here and knew each other for a long time.

I don’t really know too well. OJ veterans should explain it but from what I’ve gathered, the admin was tired since the forum was more of a hobby. So he was done and wanted to end the forum

At the time I was quite religious so the idea of God being portrayed in an anime, and humans wanting to beat God turned me off completely. I don't think that way anymore though.

Interesting...well, I think you’ll enjoy it quite a bit now!! The arcs/saga after it are also worth reading/watching, Water 7 and especially Enies Lobby are my favorite parts of the series even to this day

All I’m gonna say is it’s all about finishing the right one tbh, and I’m glad I did

on topic tho, I was on orojackson, it was getting shut down and I heard that new forums were getting made. One of the was thrillerbark and one was this one. Thought this one quickly got censored and as I forgot about it, I got stuck looking at thrillerbark but it was empty/almost zero conversations going.

So I stuck with reddit/narutoforums for a while till, believe it or not, I was looking for forum discussion threads for the one piece chapter 957, ultimate, and Worstgen was almost at the top below reddit and something else which I forgot. Clicked it, enjoyed the format and the rest is,as they say, history.

It’s more like they lacked the funds to keep the site going, the site became too big for the cost of a hobby as you said. They tried getting ads/funding but it was a no go so, shutdown. Too bad really cause there were a lot of memories in that place.
