Oh sweet summer child, when it's time for the BB crew to be the main antagonists, the work of Kizaru and the Gorosei this arc will look like an Olympic gold medal performance.
Oda NEVER makes any villain look competent once it's their time to actually do something.

All in all this arc was just what I feared:
Very good up until the Kuma flashback ended.
Then Oda did his thing and completely botched the finale/climax of the arc once again, just like he did with every single post-skip arc except for Zou (which is why Zou is still by far the best written post-skip arc).
Those last 20 chapters were a complete mess in terms of pacing and writing decisions.

Man, Usopp is rising in the charts for being one of the most selfish and unlikeable characters in this story. What a disastrous portrayal for him again.
He was nothing but a complete burden on everyone this arc, and then doesn't even have the most basic level of self-awareness and empathy to pay a second of respect to those who sacrificed themselves. Instead he cheers because going to Elbaf is his dream - wow! everyone is super excited for you Usopp.
I mean sure, I know Oda doesn't care much in the way of writing actual humans, but god damn, are we really supposed to be excited for what this guy might do in Elbaf? At the moment he's less of a warrior and 'brave' than Fodder-#17 on Midd's crew.
