Nami actress is going to be 40 by the time they reach the timeskip :josad:
Honestly i think this move could cost them the cancelation. Ok,Drum makes people cry for Chopper's story and whatever, but there is not enough hype stuff in season 2 before Alabasta to make people excited about the events. Including Alabasta would make for a better and more epic season.

I mean, the final villain of the season will be Wapol?? :gokulaugh:Yeah what an epic live action!
Lmao that's by far the biggest issue with season ending as Drum island. I like the arc but Wapol is simply not threatening enough to be a season ending villain
If they want a nice tie in to the next season and a believable villain to end S2, they could write in Mr 1 and Miss Doublefinger as the final villains that trash the crew and maybe kidnap Vivi

It would introduce the big guns from Baroque Works and immediately tell the audience what to look forward to in the next season (saving the princess)

Yeah the live action wasn't 1:1 from East Blue arc so they're likely going to rewrite Drum ending to make it more climatic

No Alabasta in season 2? What the hell :josad: but at least we should have the Vivi,Robin and Ace (?) casting very soon. And maybe Crocodile? Or will they leave him a shadow,as we wont get to Alabasta?
What reassures me : If all the budget we had for the first season will go on this second one, this should look clean

What scares me : The Drum conflict is NOT enough to create the impact of a final boss fight. Walpol is a goofy villain with very little convictions, the conflict was mostly about Chopper's self acceptation. It can't work UNLESS... Wapol gets characterization and story make-overs. That would be the wisest choice but fans will be chocked because things could get a little bit more detailed and dramatic.

Now.. It should have been quite easy to create 8 episodes with only all those arcs + Alabasta, so it means that the problem is financial. This means that we can forget the idea of reaching Marineford because the costs of post-Skypiea arcs (or even Skypiea itself) will be ASTRONOMICAL. And at this rate, it will take years and years...

There is no way they are not already thinking about a future recast if they plan to continu.

It's not impossible per say, but this would require a lot of writing of the character. Wapol would become a menace.

OR.. they could play with that..

And create a guy that acts like a menace as a King a make a Game of throne ich villain that will have long lines of dialogue during the entire arc and will talk sh*t about just how great he is... will become very threatening at the end because of a some storytelling trick and will be two shot in a comical fashion by Luffy in front of the flag.

Both ways could be interesting.

A very poor decision on the face of it, and I expect them to try and rework things so there’s a Garp like fight at the end of the arc (against Smoker, I would guess) with maybe an appearance from Croc as well.

Big risk that needs to pay off or the series won’t see EL.

I was still looking forward for this, but this really killed all hype for me.

I was afraid this was going happened when all the Alabasta casting was still not decided.

I wonder how they can end this season on a high in Drum Island.

In all honestly:
Putting all of Loguetown, Twin Cape, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, Drum and Alabasta into 8 episodes would've never worked.

I much rather have them concentrate on 8 quality episodes of Alabasta buildup than putting out some rushed bullshit (aka Got season 8).

Now they are in a perfect position to cover Alabasta (and maybe Yaya) in season 3 and then Skypiea in season 4, if it gets renewed.

Either they film Season 2 and Season 3 back to back or we get a 4Kids cancellation with the ship falling from the sky. I understand their choice to not rush things but this is horrible news honestly speaking, you cannot just expect Wapol and Mr. 3 to carry the villain roles the entire season. They could easily remove some (quite a lot) unnecessary content (Oda is like GRRM when it comes to story writing, they cram and cram and cram and cram and do it so horribly slowly), spend less time on Whiskey Peak etc. and go at it or at the very least not do that B plot bulls*it.

Do not be so sure, it's very possible to push the limits of Evil of Walpol's character to create something good. It's not completely impossible, but it will need a rewrite of the arc. Mainly the entire first part where it's a lot of running.

So what the plan here? 1 logue 1 laboon 2 whiskey 2 giant and 2 wapol? Damn the final episode sound so mid. Rather then wapol Fight with mr 3 have more final battle like moment with high stake and everyone involvement.

I could see Wapol not getting a fight at all and the entire season will be about Baroque Works attacking the Strawhats on different Island, with a huge final battle on Drum Island. After they finally win, they learn there are even more stronger members and setting up season 3.
