Super Buu was getting no diffed by ultimate Gohan for most of their fight where has Kid Buu was able to over power Super Vegeta, Goku SSJ3, and fat buu to the point they needed a spirit bomb to put him down for good and even then it still remains the biggest in canon spirit bomb Gokus ever thrown

Super Buu didn't stand a chance against Gohan until he absorbed Gotenks even then he couldn't gain any kind of ground against him

Tho I never read rhe original dbz manga just watched the anime

I don't remember goku saying anything about Gohan beating Kid buu just that he wanted to give Goten and Trunks a chance at saving the world by beating fat buu

Ironically I might’ve been wrong, i think Goku said Gotenks could’ve been enough for Kid Buu but i haven’t read the manga in a while

Toriyama threw a powerscaling comment in there to make sure to let the readers know where Kid Buu was in the totem pole
