Logiko is right, someday One Oiece will be taught in universities : Highly problable yes. In another timeline, I would myself be ready to create a course just to make studients learn more about storytelling and storytelling analysis through One Piece and this would be on par if not better in term of quality from what I learned myself in those courses.
College students will learn how to foreshadow using One Piece as reference : Without someone who really understand the notion of planting and the different types. (And therefore a qualitative course), it will be difficult. So while One Piece might be taught in universities, it could also lead to very poor courses on storytelling. It will depend on the teacher.
When Oda dies, Japan will erect a 500 ft statue in his honor like Mongolia did for ghenghis khan : That would be dumb. But depending on the popularity of Oda at the times, this will surely create an earthquake.
We are witnessing the golden era of story telling: Not sure about that. Such hypothesis would requier a sociological analysis. In reality, we might be at a moment of crisis for storytelling and at the end of an era (that One Piece will end with a bang) and just before the beginning of a new one.
A new way to create stories.
Enjoy it while it last: Yes, I recommend to people to do that. Because One Piece is REALLY something special.
Being able to read One Piece daily could very well be compared to being able to assist in real time to the creation of Shakespeare's stories or the Odyssey.
As for Oda being the greatest author of all time ?
No. I think that Oda managed to create something that is comparable to the best stories in history, but it's not perfect and Oda is not perfect either.
Oda is just part of a group of very great authors.
