I do believe his claim as well, but I have no interest in someone who goes against his own 'wincon' that cycle and take out a townie role out of spite. Against the spirit of the game and his own wincon, and it's low even for Ultra. He might make excuses to justify himself, but he knows that what he did to YoTan is just pure spite because he got busted and townies did not listen to him kill their own kind. I would understand if he did what he did while having a mafia wincon. But he did not, he burned all bridge leading to having any support with townies.

Until he dies, he is a talking simulator nexus. Any further indulgence with him, would make me less willing to work with you here or the cult leader. Remain neutural.
