Imu also giving or taking away immortality finally explains why the Gorosei, though immortal, do not know the true history seemingly (they questioned why the old WG hid away luffy's devil fruit from history). They are only immortal when he gives them that power, so he's probably far older than they are.

Finally this seems like a good chapter for Imu, because to me he really does radiate FV threat now

Shanks isn’t a father killer. You won’t see that in One Piece with characters the audience is supposed to like.

Why exactly? I can see Shanks killing if it’s merited. He allowed Lucky Roo to kill bandits in chapter uno remember?
Garling will be the key to the puzzle on how Shanks will end up in Mary Geoise, don’t know exactly how that will go down yet. Shanks will then end up discovering Imu and their confrontation begins. He’ll be like Jiraiya and will probably figure out some sort of weakness before dying.

Not randomly, a Gorosei position was vacant and it needed to be filled by a strong character, Ryokugyu both worships the Gorosei and is strong, so why was Garling picked over him? Seems to be that old Garling > Ryokugyu at the very least.

Buddy the reasons do not matter, all that matters is that a character can become a Celestial Dragon if the Gorosei so choose it.

Because they had a perfect candidate in Garling, head of the HK, pure breed CD and probably already knew Imu.

Much better than having to promote an "insect" to your peer, then promote him again to top level CD, tell him about Imu and even losing an admiral in the process.

Only way a 1v1 Sanji vs Admiral with a Sanji victory can happen is if:

1.Luffy vs Akainu doesn't happen or conclude
2.Sanji vs Admiral happens well after Luffy has already defeated Akainu
