But in games that don't have fake roles

If my character is town and someone claims a character that is allied with mine it's more than likely they are also town

No it's negative, because claiming is information, and information should be controlled. It's why people don't like Flower doing it unprompted just to clear herself, much like what you've gone for here. If information is not controlled, we limit our ability to use it to solve. And furthermore, with your flavour scum can now begin to deduce what sort of role you may have, such as whether you have one, and what type it can be. And there is no benefit to this for the town, because as you say, it's just flavour, it doesn't prove your alignment. So under the presumption that you're town, you've taken action that can hurt the team, at the cost of something that doesn't really help move the town wincon forward.

If we asked you to claim we would want the role too. The fact is you were not going to be asked to claim today, I've gone back and forth on you but I don't think at any point have any of us had you at strong scum. So there's no point to it.

I tend to lean towards town reading you more from this but I don't really know if I should be, because it's a very defensive reaction to someone I know to get very defensive when pressured even a little bit as scum..
