Thoughts?

If they are an old character, it would at least justify the ridiculous silhouetting and voice filtering. They just want to keep the mystery plot twist reveal for later.

But if they are a new character, then its utterly pointless to keep hiding their appearance and identity for this long... no point whatsoever.

Both scenarios are a loss. Loda fumbled.

Mars is freaking sus. Look at him there. Alao when they understood Saturn was offed he seemed to be smiling somehow.

I'd rather Im be something similar to the IOE (Idea of evil) from Berserk. A force of elemental evil powered by sadness, pain, tragedy, fear and all that runs counter to what Joyboy represents. It could be the greatest twist of One piece if it turns out that Imu is a creation of the peoples own evil, whether by thoughts or action, similar to how Devil fruits could be a creation of their hopes and dreams which created the Nika figure.

Honestly I prefer Imu being a new character because him being someone like Xebec is less impactful than a character who has survived for 800 years and been controlling the world all this time.

It also makes the ending more impactful because Luffy is set to be a man who’s going to shoulder centuries of history which he can’t do if Imu is someone from like a few decades ago.

Issue is that we know Imu was a person once.

Unless whatever funky he got turned him into the literal Devil or the Mother Sea.

Peak writing they said
Almost 300 chapters since introduction. 4 years of Imu design being hidden

This tells you Oda hasn't yet finalised imu design

Oda thinks it adds mystery to Imu if he remains a silhouette
