Oda is a great at controlling his cast of characters but ever since thriller bark its starting to affect strawhats screentime. The writing quality is the same but even Oda cant control this huge cast of characters at some points. Oda wants to end the series soon without rushing which means longer arcs which means less screentime for strawhats. This is the difference between pre timeskip and post timeskip One Piece. Fortunately for us after Elbaf we wont have that much characters to add in story. Of course there are gods knights and Oda will add some silly character time to time but after Elbaf we are ending our huge side character cast and start giving them endings.
Well fortunately final saga is about to start soon. After we Elbaf we have no more adventure arcs waiting for us. It will be vs One Piece and Final War. Which is kinda fun and sad. Fun part is that Oda can finally starts to move strawhats in the Major story going on behind since the beginning and we can finally see characters like Dragon and Shanks etc. more frequently. On the sad part Elbaf will be the final adventure of the strawhats the seriess charm started with Whiskey Peak is about to end. No more strawhat adventures. I might be wrong but i dont think other than Lodestar and Laugh Tale we are going to an island we havent seen before.
