Powers & Abilities Bro what even is Laffitte's ability?

#41
Not really. Mythical Zoans are able to use partial transformations. We’ve seen Marco do this several times. Kaido and Yamato have also uses partial transformations iirc
Marcos never done a partial transformation, his hybrid is just his wings with a tail and talons. And even then, his clothes meld into his wings, here they dont

Kaido and Yamato have never done partials either.

nobody cares because oda can add anything it doesn't matter....there was a time when I used to think a lot of thought would been added but he just adds random stuff without much thought on it for overall story just picks some concept from other fact/fictions and basically draws it..

From Wikipedia’s Chikap Kamuy:

“As the story goes, famine had struck the land, and humankind was starving. Chikap Kamuy wished to send a message to heaven inquiring about the cause of the famine, and he asked Crow to be his messenger. His message and instructions were very lengthy, however, and it took him days to recite them. On the third day, Crow fell asleep, and Chikap Kamuy grew angry and killed him. Chikap Kamuy next asked Mountain Jay to be his messenger, but on the fourth day, Mountain Jay fell asleep and was killed in turn. The third messenger was the Dipper Bird, who listened respectfully for six full days until Chikap Kamuy finally completed the recitation of the message. Dipper Bird then flew to the heavens, and returned with news that the kamuy of fish and game were angry because humans had stopped showing proper respect for the gifts they gave. Accordingly, Chikap Kamuy went to the humans and taught them the proper rituals to be enacted after killing a fish or a deer. Once the humans began performing these rituals, the kamuy were appeased, and the famine ceased.”

I’m pretty sure he has 🤔.

Can also vaguely remember Kaido using it once during the Luffy fight on the roof.

Can’t be arsed to look atm but will check whenever I can ^^.
Can ignore this for the time being

I remember people claiming Marco did because his hybrid is so similar to his human form; however, that turned out to just be his hybrid iirc.

And Kaido used several points like Chopper does, but no partial transformations

How about Hypnos?

Hypnos has been portrayed without many of his special features and only the wings on many occasions.

In Greek mythology, Hypnos (/ˈhɪpnɒs/; Ancient Greek: Ὕπνος, 'sleep'), also spelled Hypnus, is the personification of sleep; the Roman equivalent is known as Somnus. His name is the origin of the word hypnosis.
yeah, what you said or what Alexis said. It will probably be some sort of special Mythical Zoan that will have additional paramecia like effects.

we have already seen hybridlike devilfruits like Marco, Tamago or Katakuri

On this topic though. I think the probability that Lafitte's DF being tied to his Epithet "Demon Sheriff" is pretty high.
This is a pattern I stumbled upon a while back but will re-share it again.
All of the original 5 seem to have DFs related to their epithets.
"Blackbeard" -> Dark Dark Fruit
"Champion" Jesus Burgess -> Strong Strong Fruit
"Supersonic" Van Augur -> Warp Warp Fruit
"Death God" Doc Q -> Sick Sick Fruit
"Demon Sheriff" Laffite -> (Mythical Zoan, Model: Human or Demon)? -> ???

Initial guess prior to the introduction of the Gorosei abilities was "Fallen Angel", but considering the Gorosei are all demons there might be a "Demon" mythical zoan model. Considering it's "Demon Sheriff" though, it could be Mythical Zoan "Lucifer" or something. I mean we have Buddha in Sengoku so it's a possibility

Will have to double check but am pretty sure Marco has appeared with the phoenix wings but human legs a couple of times in marineford when he kicked Kizaru and Aokiji on top of manifesting just one wing paired with a human arm against King and Queen.

Sounds like partial transformations to me.

Most of the Level 5 inmates abilities are based on their Nicknames as well:
Gigantic Battleship - Huge Huge Fruit
Heavy Drinker - Glug Glug Fruit
Crescent Moon Hunter - Kitsune Fruit (Tsukuyomi the moon god took the form of Kitsune)
Corrupt King - Island Island Fruit (the power to rule and control every part of an entire island)

The only one whose nickname doesn’t relate to their fruit is Shiryu which may be more based on his swords name Thunderstorm as thunder isn’t visible and is just a sound.

Those are examples of Marco using his flames and less as transforming into his phoenix self. We even see his hands in the kick against Aokiji despite his flames looking like wings.

Marcos power is unique because he can use his zoan ability in base; however transformation wise he still only has the three

Iirc Yamato is also able to use Ice in base. Can’t remember correctly but think she was in base when she froze the bombs on Onigashima

The character named Jango was a hypnotist and he would often put people to sleep (including himself).

Laffitte has also hypnotized people.

The word Hypnotism is based on the word Hypnos and the Greek God was the personification of sleep.

These abilities, however, can be attributed to a wide variety of mythical characters. Hypnos is just one of the prominent ones.

I believe these men were asleep when the hypnosis took effect.

The Kizaru kick clearly shows well defined wings just before the strike though and it's even more clear in the Queen/King scene where we see him from the front with the feathers clearly drawn in the inner part of his right wing while maintaining his human left arm.

Yes but that’s not about partial transformation imo. Because Luffy is still rubber in base, mythicals grant the base forms of their users the same abilities as the zoan and hybrid, but that doesn’t change their physical form like it did with Lafitte

The king and queen scene was Marco regenerating the arm that was cut off by King and manipulating his phoenix flame to create an attack. He was in base form.

No. His arm was already regenerated by then. This happens after the knee strike that gets King out of the way where we can clearly see him jumping in with a fully regenerated arm.

He maintains both a phoenix wing and a human arm here, showing a partial transformation:

Shows phoenix wings and human legs against Kizaru, another example:

What piece of information hinted it might not be a Devil Fruit ability?

It would be weird if it was Experimentation in the sense that he has weird genetics. I think Blackbeard is the only one with something like that.

He was part of the original group and that could mean he was a harbinger for Blackbeard. He's one of the most loyal. That much is obvious.

The only things that would explain the wings are either 1) he was experimented on 2) he is a Devil Fruit user

I guess it's possible he could be from a weird race, but idk.

Albino Lunarian? Lol idk

Fair enough. Marcos fruit is quite weird so maybe partial transformations do exist. I still am not sold on Lafittes wings as DF because the clothes didn’t merge with them; however, that could be pre timeskip stuff and it’s just Oda not fully planning them out
