I think it's a pretty clear indicator of his alignment, given that he was saved. He's probably Mafia. 1 or 2 doesn't matter.

He could save himself as indie, but Yes, it is more likely it was team effort since otherwise he would have to find assist himself. And most scum would not use lynch stop just to frame someone.
