Powers & Abilities Does Luffy being able to use gear 4 from base remove the time limit drawback?

To be honest, that is probably Oda being Lazy. We saw water being used against Kata and Cracker to mess with their abilities. Why is it Oda didn't have Nami and Ussop use Kairoseki or some other cleaver trick to beat Page One and Ulti?

He made up those draw back to have Luffy be the underdog. No time limit g2/g3 Luffy would have stomped Moriah and Pacifistas pre-skip.
I agree, it seems like Oda makes Luffy to strong and has to dumb him down to be able to fight his opponent. I mean even the Kizaru fight was stupid, he wasn’t using haki like he should have been and he ran out of stamina much quicker than he did in Wano. In Wano he went back into G5 on his own but for some reason didn’t in Egghead.

Oda is very inconsistent.

Yeah but he always uses haki on them. Remember G4 is the combination of his fruit and haki. That was a partial change.
No he doesn't, he had his legs normal multiple times against Doflamingo, his legs were never a fundamental part of the transformation, it was always his upper body and arms, but transforming a single arm is entirely new.

You’ll have to provide a panel. I don’t recall him not putting the haki on his legs. I’ve seen him shift his haki around, but that’s about it.

Just trying to be objective, G4 snakeman point is speed, Kizaru point is speed to and Luffy was outclassed there, in order to keep up and even surpass Kizaru he had to use G5.
Kizaru managed outlcassing Snakeman once when he had to boost his speed , and luffy was just standing

So unless you believe g5 > snakeman in attack speed
I'm sorry for you

I admit that that fight wasn't so interesting, like OP in general in the last years, yet I think it is safe to say that G5 outclasses G4 in everything.

I don’t think it’s a question that Kizaru is faster than gear 4 but I don’t think either went all out.
That is the point, Luffy went all out by changing gears. Kizaru by becoming more serious.

It's a big upgrade. We now know he can use it partially and when he uses it as a whole form, he can deactivate it whenever he wants w/o any repercussions.
The first aspect is completely new and for the latter we now atleast got a concrete confirmation.
This will likely lead to Luffy having regular access to attacks like King Cobra and KKG and Boundman's (aerial)mobility. It's huge imo.
I can even see a route where Oda now gives him a casual speedblitz movement quirk.
