Imu's Black Armament Haki is so Convergent powerful, that we can't see any discernable features. In the Pre-Time-Skip, Haki was invisible, because Luffy was too weak to sense it. In the Post-Time-Skip, no one has had strong enough Haki to actually see through Imu's Haki, even Sabo.

Imu is so powerful, that those who are weak enough can't even view their presence, and would see simply clear air.

This is how Imu walks around Mary Geoise without detection.

Only people like Doflamingo, or Garling, have the strength/Will to perceive even Imu's silhouette.

Normal Armament Haki is unable to be seen by weak people. Imu's Armament is so strong, that weak people cannot perceive them; their very strength wards off the perception of most who view them.

That explains why he/she is the parent of the so called strongest armament haki user in op verse.

So Imu could be a small alien with haki so strong he manifest a body? Zoro needs to take some points to perfect his Asura.
