I think you are conflating between badass moment and a character moment. He has done similar(show of will) things in the past. It doesn't progress Zoro as a character. Sanji sacrificing his Raid suit which gives him Invisibility which craves a lot and would have given him greater strength overall is a character moment.

It’s not that it’s badass, it’s a character overcoming what he previously thought was his limit for the two people who mean most to him.

Like sure King of Hell is a cringe title, but when he stopped trying to limit enma and instead awoke his CoC and attributed it partly to Kuina and Luffy, it’s a good character moment.

I don't really care personally about this scene (altho I agree with oda totally shitting the bed with zoro post-ts to showing any character progression).

The only one who even MIGHT know Saul is like who, the people on the ship? And I think Robin name dropped him in egghead while sanji nami and usopp were present, I think

How is that moment any different from him cutting Mr. 1? Him beating Kaku? Character overcoming their Physical limitations is not a character moment. This happens with Zoro on all his extreme diff fights. KOH feels special cause he didn't have any such moment for over a decade.

Characters overcoming limitations for others is a character moment? Trying to water it down as just a “cool moment” is disingenuous to Zoro. His character revolves around having his name reach heaven, accepting the power of hell to do that all in the name of Kuina his best friend and Luffy his captain is a very nice moment for his character.

Blud had a poker face while Merry was burning, I would've hated it if he showed a strong reaction for Saul like I hated how Luffy reacted to Oden backstory
