Yes, they seem to have a proper level of hesitancy if that’s the case, only trusting him because of prior service. They do treat him as an inferior being. It seems obvious that it wasn’t really Shanks in the room since he was able to sneak in although it only showed his right eye, which is either an attempt to keep that a mystery or was only to conceal this other character.
