Chapter Discussion Oda lost his touch??

#3
I've enjoyed OP for many years, but yeah. Since Whole Cake Island I simply haven't enjoyed the series much, just moments here and there. It's always the same scenario of the SH getting separated and going through silly shenanigans, and we have to meet foolish, mostly irrelevant characters that waste our time rather than real plot points. Since WCI it's been the exact same formula, well it's always been like that to an extent, but it was still somewhat exciting at least but since WCI it's been really tedious to get through sometimes. I really think Oda needs a long break to reevaluate where he's going with the story.

I've been having issues with One Piece since the big split at Sabaody, and especially during Marineford and the introduction of haki, but I didn't put much thought into it because I usually thought things would get better eventually and we still had golden moments now and then.

Fishman Island wasn't what I was hoping for but it wasn't bad and had some good moments, even though the Straw Hat reunion wasn't remotely as emotional as I had hope and some of the post-TS designs were hit or miss.

Punk Hazard had a few bugs but it was good for me overall.

Then came Dressrosa which was great with only a few lousy things here and there with my main gripe being too many side characters, but I felt it was justified when they were revealed to be joining the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, but then here we are now years later and those guys, aside from maybe Hajrudin and Barto, have been completely worthless.

Then came Whole Cake. It started off so great and it had so much promise only for it to turn into a fucking mess the story never recovered from and gave us the poor excuse of a villain we now know as Big Meme. That was when I officially stopped reading One Piece regularly.

Wano goes without saying...

Then Egghead happened... the arc I had been looking forward to since Thriller Bark where the setting's biggest genius would finally answer some questions. Instead we get one of the most poorly written super geniuses in fiction because a character can only be as smart as their writer. And Saul is brought back... It just confirmed for me that LOda can't continue this story on a satisfying note.

Now here we are in Elbaf and it looks to be more of the same blunders we got in Egghead, and Vegafraud #1 will be alive again, so yeah.

Not really, writing style and patterns throughout the arc have been the same since marine ford, most of us didn't have the level of comprehension and expectations that we do now. It seems like it's gotten worst but it's been pretty much the same from the beginning

There's always been fake out deaths
Duval and Sanji was basically the Bargin bin version of what we got with Shanks and Nega-Shanks

Post time skip is basically just pre time skipped scaled up a level and with less comedic moments

He's taken plenty of breaks, he can't come back anymore

Wano is the problem. Aahahaha

See, one of the main reasons for so many complaints in Wano was the lack of tension, lack of deaths, etc...

"Hur dUR an arc with 2 Yonkou", more people died in Wano than in Egg, an arc with 5 Gorosei + 1 Admiral + Seraphim + CP0 + New government weapons + 9 Vice Admirals + 20 or 30 thousand marine soldiers surrounding the island against a much smaller number of opponents.:milaugh::milaugh::suresure:

Before this, the argument went something like this:
All admirals are lethal, so there will always be more tension involved and deaths when they are in a fight, so we saw what happened and how Oda reduced the lethality of Kizaru's lasers so that injured people like Franky could eat them and walk away like they weren't hit by ANYTHING
