Oda gave him actually some depth but failed to do him justice
He skipped or shortened the most important parts of Wano (Kaido's backstory, Ryuma's grave etc.) and gave spotlight to uninteresting characters like Tama

Tbh, Pranks doesn't 'look' evil so far. Rather melancholic, in both of his appearances.

How would luffy or zoro have turned out if they were raised isolated, indoctrinated, trained among the same people as Pranks was?

Exactly. We'll get this backstory in Wano Act 4, though I really wish Oda would have put it at the end of Onigashima. Would have been a lot better to explore the Joy Boy parallels there, and would have made Gear 5 feel more meaningful: Kaido didn't become Joy Boy, but helped create him in battle.

Every major character enjoys good hype and has a potential to be 10/10 and it last until they get their own arc.



Having an own arc in one piece is like a death warrant for that character portayal
