So, we learn it's not Holdem who was the mastermind behind the Wano kidnappings...but Who's Who! Yeah...okay, is he just going to turn out to be revealed to be one of the "four generals" for the REAL mastermind behind HIM? Because Who's Who still doesn't feel like a big enough reveal to justify this cover story. It feels like the second in a series of gags about revealing the true mastermind behind this side-story. Like next chapter we find out Who's Who is actually working for Queen, who the chapter after that is revealed to be working for Black Maria, who the next chapter after that is revealed to be working for a revived zombie Basil Hawkins or something. That just feels like the direct we might be headed in this cover story.
Heh...I do like the gag about "Moose" tasting like dinosaur meat. Luffy WOULD know what that tastes like from Little Garden, after all.
Sanji waxing nostalgic over the mermaids was kind of cute. Kind of a interesting reveal that most Giants don't travel much. Though, it does make sense. The world's just too small for them. It's not easy to travel when you're big.
Road seems very into Gerd's "punishments'. And he even joins Nami's ever growing "reverse harem". You're hitting a little too close to home, there, Road.
And...yeah, this chapter basically confirms that Loki's probably a good guy. Most of the stuff he got blamed for isn't even his fault. And his "pets" getting loose by accident probably wasn't even that big of a deal. The biggest question marks are still the arson (which was probably a honest mistake or trying to build a fire to keep some poor sick animal warm) and killing his dad (who was probably making deals with the Celestial Dragons). Luffy seems to like him, so he's almost certainly a good guy, deep down.
Shanks captured Loki 6 years ago. And according to Artur the Library of Ohara's One Piece Timeline, 6 years ago was when Shanks became a Yonko. So, Shanks probably became a Emperor specifically BECAUSE he captured Loki. (Chapter 967)

I do like that Luffy just spills the beans about his deal with Loki to Zoro and eventually Nami. And they just kind of go along with Luffy's gut at this point. Because why wouldn't they? He's usually right about these kind of things. Now, how is Nami going to get all that Giant treasure back onboard the Sunny?
Also, new LORE drops!
The "Harley" Texts sound interesting. As do the various interpretations of Nika, which all seem to be true, to some extent. As in "Harley Quinn", maybe for harlequin, another name for a jester? Is that a coincidence or not?
I do find it interesting that this depiction of Nika has a sword and shield instead of a sword and a spear like we've seen before in silhouette (Chapter 1018). The sword is a constant, at least. But, the other "weapon" changes. Maybe to symbolize different incarnation of Nika? Joyboy had the Sword and Spear, but Nika had the Sword and Shield, something like that?
So, this world has been destroyed twice before. That's during Nika and Joyboy's times, most likely. Although, from what we understand, this "Harley Text" may predate the Void Century. So, it's possible that the World was destroyed twice BEFORE the Void Century War, and the results of the Void Century actually were caused by a "failed" third apocalypse. It's possible that the World was SUPPOSED to be destroyed and remade a THIRD time, but Joyboy failed, and the World Government took over instead. But, I might be overthinking that.
Luffy has officially learned about Nika, even though he still thinks it doesn't involve him. So, my pet theory of him never learning about Nika until the end is well and truly dead. I'll miss that theory.
But, then we get the best scene in this chapter with Loki refusing to join the Gods Knights.
First of all, I'm a little surprised that they even offered to let Loki join. I would think that group would be exclusively made up of Celestial Dragons. Apparently, they're not so "racist" as to not let someone strong enough join their ranks. Or, maybe they were ordered to let Loki join on orders from someone higher up like Imu, if Imu was the person Loki was talking to through the Transponder Snail.
But we also get our mystery woman's name, Gunko! It's a little amusing that "Gunko" can apparently mean "War Drum" in Japanese. So, maybe she represents the opposite of the Drums of Liberation or the start of our Ragnarok?

The heterochromia feels like a bit much. But, it's a little interesting that Gunko sort of reminds me of a more evil-looking Koala from the Revolutionaries. 90% of that is the goggles, but I wonder if that's on purpose, and there's some sort of connection between the two.
She also definitely has some sort of bandage powers. I really wish we got the name of her power set. Either her "Yokai" or Devil Fruit powers. But, most interestingly here, Gunko has a "arrow" on her bandages that looks a identical to "Imu's Tail" from when Imu attacked Sabo in Chapter 1085. So...was that "tail arrow" even a attack from Imu in the first place? Do Gunko and Imu have related powers or was Gunko just secretly in the room with the Gorosei and Imu when they faced off with Cobra and Sabo? This does feel like it lends credence to the idea that Gunko is actually "Imu's Assistant" that we often see along with Imu in the butterfly garden sometimes.
Loki stating how much he thinks the Celestial Dragons are scum just reinforces the idea that he's going to turn out to be a solid guy.
And I have to wonder how literally we should take Loki's last line? Could Loki's Legendary Devil Fruit give him the power to LITERALLY turn his rage and anger into power? Something like Goku from Dragon Ball Z? Or the Incredible Hulk? I don't know, I just think that line could potentially be foreshadowing what Loki's power turns out to be.
So, overall, this was a good chapter! We are moving right along in Elbaph! A good way to start the year!
