The thing is the Weevil escort situation is (probably) a set up for Crossguild to step in.

Marines vs Cross Guild has been getting built up + Weevil is a Schichibukai like Buggy/Mihawk/Crocodile

The escort ship getting jumped by Cross Guild seems like it would fit with the trends, kind of like how Blackbeard vs Revos has also lowkey been getting some set up.

So, you introduce a character who is "supposedly" as strong as a young Whitebeard, but never actually show or hint at what his powers are, not show him for like years, in real life, then have him beaten offscreen, which doesn't even do anything for Aramaki, as we didn't have a glimpse of the actual fight.

He may have well kept Moria as a Warlord instead of having such a non-entity introduced.
