If the enemy has low firepower, they will last days and months and years. If the firepower is high enough, they don't last a day.
And since we know that Charlottes are healing panchi merchants, the guy with stamina above Jack and toughness above Kaido will last long enough to obliterate the kingdom of sweets. All stars align for King in this scenario, that's why the massacre is possible.
Everything is evident in the manga.
If it is not evident for you that King is a more challenging combatant than Kaido, it cannot be helped.
If you don't understand that Katakuri is a more challenging fighter than Big Mom, for those who don't have AOEs while they have high firepower, it cannot be helped.

2 of BB pirates went to Totland and they devastated the place and beat everyone there. BM and only a handful of her pirates were gone. There it is. Manga facts proving you wrong. That might have been a cover story but it still cannon and happened.
