Yep, despite me clowning on Zoro King fans till now, you know my true opinion about King vs Lord Kuri and as much as I like Lord Kuri, the Lunarian durability gimmick is really powerful and bothersome which gives King more advantages on the longrun - as long as we don't find out the true reason behind that power. Ofc if it's a weakness which depends on stamina or other factors, I'll definitely change my opinion about that fight.

King switched to his speed form because of two things :

Yeah, just like I told Darkest, it's true that King's ability to tank/no sell whatever they're throwing at him is really bothersome and he has some great physical feats as well. At least with Lord Kuri, you could argue that he'd aim when King is vulnerable especially since Lord Kuri's battle IQ is quite high and his FS allows him to see few seconds into the future.
Doffy on the other hand only has to rely on his own battle IQ but I'm sure, this guy must know the secret of the Lunarian. He was a Celestial Dragon after all and he even knows about the national treasure.
