Just my opinion but Oda loves Shanks too much to put him below a title that limits his potential strength (ceiling would be Mihawk), so I wholeheartedly believe he will save him from that just like he saved him from Killer's statement that Kaido is the strongest pirate because Killer has never seen Shanks fight and thus can't judge his strength.

Oda ain't saving him from anything. He ties shanks into mihawk every chance he gets.

The SHs never find things on their own, idk why anyone thought that was going to change. But the implementation of Roger pirates is always interesting as they add more lore and details about them.
