The speculation is that he used his devil-fruit because fruitless Ryo is weaker than Morley, rather than because it was the more useful tool to physically restrain the Giant

Nuclear proliferation, or AI proliferation juxtaposed with nuclear proliferation, may very well be the main theme; while inherited will and legacy, the value of personal freedom, unity, the nature of government, the idea of utopia, etc. are all certainly prevalent themes, they are not the main point of the story.

More useful. Exactly how would vines be more useful? Because it can get a job done that his other tools cannot. Which means his other tools were either ineffective or less effective. Congrats you agreeing with me without realizing it
