Yeah the Roger Pirates were not actually far behind the Rocks Pirates at all. At least in their primes.

This makes the destruction of Rocks Pirates in God Valley much more reasonable to me. Even if there's an implication that one of the Rocks pirate betrayed their crew/left the battlefield at some point there still seemed to be a gap that always bothered due to how stacked that crew looked on paper.
Now if you consider that there were 3 proper top tiers in Roger's crew (Roger, Rayleigh, Gaban) + Garp + Garling it's clear that they bite more than they could chew

What do you all think Gaban’s abilities will be?
- I think he will be an observation haki and speed beast.

- CoO - He was able to react to Luffy’s declaration to the Giants on the Ship, which means he has range across islands.
- Speed - Well I think he’ll be quick, really quick and it fits his dual axe style.
- Beserker mode - I mean the dude has dual axes and was introduced in a Viking Centric arc. Gaban’s special ability will be a mode he enters: where he sacrifices his intellect for increased physical stats. He will be mindless in this form but he will be super-powered. Maybe the way to control this mode is ‘Love’? Also Beserker are derived from the word for ‘Bear’ and I think when we see him walking in Elbaph you see a Giant Bear in the background. Maybe he has the ability to turn into a bear. It won’t be a mythical model but maybe it could be a Ancient Bear: Like a Cave Bear or something.
- As for CoC, I would think it would be cooler if he didn’t have CoC but was just that good that he was able to stand with the other legends.

I expect great observation haki. Great range and perhaps Future Sight. Great physicals though not as good as his prime. Great armament haki too.

Conqueror's isn't necessary but after him being placed as a legend with Roger and Rayleigh, Oda might give it to him to reiterate how great Roger's crew was to have so many Conqueror's genuinely want to follow him.

His moveset is what I'm really interested in, axes are cool so I hope it goes beyond just using them like swords are displayed but perhaps throwing and other unique stuff.

I think we will soon see if Gaban is actually on the same level as Roger and Rayleigh. If he manages to actually put a fight against Luffy it means that in his prime he was actually on that level. If not, then he never was on that level.

Shut the fuck up with this Zoro being above Sanji as if he’s anywhere near Luffy. Current Luffy low diffs Zoro, so does that mean that Luffy will only increase the gap between him. Also, no one stated current Gaban is mid top tier, Sanji’s EOS prime will be stronger than his counterpart Gaban who by all measure would have been a mid top tier.
Also Luffy has already reached the peak of his potential unless there is something more in terms of harming the Gorosei it would have to do with a hack rather than an increase in strength. Sanji still has room to grow and will get power ups too.

I hope it’s Sanji’s power of love and we finally get an in depth explanation of what that is.

It’s kinda BS how Sanji is practically a DF user at this point but it’s never been seriously explained.

Gaban using this power could give a glimpse at EoS Sanji.

Current Zoro and Sanji can mid diff YC's of 1.3B+, see how Sanji was destroying Queen after he called ifrit jambe.

They can give Luffy a tough fight Gaban is portrayed as a legendary star like many other legendary figures, not even Roger is doing mid diff Gaban.

I don't care if Gaban is comparable in terms of strength, prestige or infamy. Just the fact that he is placed on the same super-special shelf as a legendary star is enough to cement one of the greatest portrayals in the series.
