DEBUNK WHAT HE SAID!!!. The only individuals whom are coping are those that cannot defend their point via manga/source material. Based on this chapter gaban is hyped and vastly dehyoed simultaneously. His endeavors pale in comparison to Rayleigh abysmally so.

Dude isn't even compared to the giant loki since he doesn't believe he can take him at all

Both are known for being leg oriented (sanji as black leg and shiki as blade leg)

Both are experienced in aerial combat (sanji with sky walk and Shiki with his float fruit).

And what's funny is that shikis portray (if you read onepiece 0) is actually even better than gaban since he faced the entire Rodger pirates and only lost do to a storm that rodger was grateful for. The same shiki ended up having to be 2v1 by garp and sengoku (one of them would have been enough but they wanted to keep casualties to a minmum).

This makes much less sense.

The Straw Hats had never heard of Gaban before, but they had almost all treated Rayleigh as a household name.

The context of the statement is also given at the exact moment in time that Gaban is getting ready to fight. It makes a lot more sense to interpret it as a powerscaling statement

Those who know of his legend consider him to have the same stature as Roger. It's about his reputation based on his exploits as a pirate- not a direct indication of power level.

Only now is interested since kaido is gone even though he could have went to wano 20 years again when kaido wasn't a top tier. It's all laughable
