Yeah I remember a lot of similar behaviour over on Reddit back in EH.
It's died down for the most part now, but back then there were many people pushing Luffy vs Saturn and Kizaru vs Sanji/Zoro/Franky with light gloves etc.
They expected too much from our spiderbro, he couldn't live up to the expectations sadly.

Kizaru more.mentally nerfed against Luffy than when he killed Vegapunk or when.he was about to slay Bonney

Fact is, Oda wasn't trying to settle some who is the strongest cartoon character argument in Egghead. He wanted to tell a specific story about how two different people (Kizaru and Luffy) could both end up being friends with Vegapunk and sad about his death. He also wanted to show how 2 different scientists (Vegapunk and Saturn) would be killed by the World Government for researching into the void century.
