This is also why Oda's gags fail. They can only be funny if the character whose the victim of them has dignity.

Its also why his attempts to hype up giants always fail too. He has never allowed them to showcase any dignity or actual might, yet he keeps trying to have his setting treat them as the ultimate weapons. So when he has them beaten for the latest character introduction, its not impressive for the introduced character to flog a giant in one hit because LOda has never let them have a real moment to shine. Oda also chose to skip Base Luffy vs Kizaru and show us how Kizaru negged Snakeman Luffy, after which he immediately used G5 and then kept up with Kizaru.

It is not possible for Base or even Boundman Luffy to compete with characters that hit a certain speed level.

Oda has luffy use gears and haki to keep up with kaido and we know that Kaido was a speed demon in attacking and dodging.
Then has luffy use g5 vs lucci who did not even look faster than kaido and then use it vs a fucking crow and over grown snake the next arc.
G5 is now vs anything from fodder to high tier , shit getting stupid .
