Garp is the first recent example that comes to my mind. I would add Aokiji too, even though here some are still in denial for that.

Gaban can be all of those things without CoC.

For the record, I want Gaban to have it, irrespective of Sanji having it or not, and I want Sanji to have it, but at it's a nice-to-have, not a must.

I think that Gaban showing trail-like haki + the visuals of the scene was a hit, but it's not like we have explicit confirmation.

The thing is that confirmed conquerors all have "conqueror/覇王色 " in their profile alongside the other haki (覇気 ) type

While Zoro only has COA and COO listed even in his most recent VC.

It makes it seem like Oda/editors gave them no confirmation of Zoro having COC for x reason. (and I don't see why, no point keeping ambiguous when Oda drew a scene of him making fodders foam at the mouth against King)

They semi confirmed it in his vivre card but hasn’t confirmed in the front page where it talks about haki. Hmm it’s weird because zoro is aware of his CoC but we shall see the next vivre card

Indicators that might get misinterpreted

- excessive leaking/trailing of lightning, not just sparks
Every user showed this effect, no CoA user showed this effect. The effect might even varies between confirmed CoC users/colored manga and anime. So it's untrustworthy

I would call the first batch "confirmation" and the second batch "highly likely CoC but not 100% confirmation" Garp would fall under the 2nd list.

I have no idea if he has it or not. I doubt Oda lied to us about Gabans status, so whether he posses COC or not it doesn't change how powerful he's written to be. But It's dishonest to say that someone of Gabans standing isn't worthy of it. I don't know of a single character in this manga described as a legend and put on a similar pedestal to Roger and Ray and their ilk that doesn't posses COC. Don Chinjao who at his height had about a 500 million berry bounty who was also described as a "legendary pirate" possessed COC, can you honestly say he's more worthy of it than Gaban?. Let's wait until Gaban actually has a serious fight to determine what he has and doesn't have.

True, Oda is intentionally keeping it ambiguous at the very least. He does not want his readers to know for sure if it was ACoC or not probably, although I think casual readers would assume it's CoC since he drew the haki flowing and streaks. Years down the line we might find out for sure, I think Oda wants to keep Sanji unlocking CoC a 50/50 where it can go either way. If he confirms Gaban has CoC that's almost the same as confirming it for Sanji.

Maybe if Sanji unlocks CoC one day we will get a statement that Gaban had CoC. My only issue is casual readers don't care about the Ulti panels, after Wano the non twitter wg One Piece reader will think this is Conqueror's. And that's also who Oda is writing for.

Edit: Greenbull also didn't comment on Yamato having Conqueror's, so yea...I guess it really doesn't mean anything that Luffy didn't single out the type of haki.

Yea.....it looks identical. This is why I'm just gonna assume anyone post CoC Coating reveal who shows haki flowing from their weapon prior to an attack landing (granted we see a shot of their weapon right before landing) has conqueror's.
