Chapter Discussion One Piece Chapter 1140: 'Scopper Gaban'

Fine chapter. Hope Oda drops more exciting chapters. Loved that attack from Gaban and him giving up after he saw Luffy's G5 and that he had a formidable crewmate is fitting. Pretty huge castle so good DC from Gaban, along with Luffy and Zoro attacking in unison once they saw what Gaban had in store.
I hope we still get Luffy v Shamrock, but if he leaves to address the Revolutionaries blocking trade and food routes and that leads to a clash that's fair. Teach also mentioned being interested in that issue, so the ensuing conflict should be interesting even if we don't get much of it.
Next big things are Loki being unleashed (Cerberus is probably still going to town on Loki so maybe Zoro steps in then Luffy unleashes Loki) and the Holy Knights taking action. Would love for Gaban to clash with a Holy Knight then give Sanji some pointers at the end of the arc. If they bring more Holy Knights later that could lead to fitting match-ups for everyone, otherwise I imagine the Wings will get fights and Gunko will face a number of Straw Hats. The whole "game" thing leaves hope for Shamrock perhaps sticking around and some interesting developments.

Can’t say I like what I see, I don’t think their looks and behaviours match the gravity of them being there. There’s an argument to be made that should have been expected after Oda revealed what the Revolutionary Army leaders look like and gave us a glimpse of young Garling’s contemporaries, but I’m disappointed all the same.
It’s not that I don’t take them seriously so much as that being undermined. Oda is extremely capable of designing serious and imposing characters - I think that’s what we would’ve expected from Imu’s best soldiers. At this rate I’m expecting Imu to do some gag humour.
