I wish he didnt translate names like Nekomamushi, Inuarashi and dont use Zolo.
Zolo is a historical issue, one that is non-rectifiable at this point. But yes, Dogstorm and Catviper is ridiculous.

I guess the target was to ensure that the Western kids could pronounce them more swiftly as opposed to pronouncing strictly Japanese name (then again, there are many Japanese names in the story which are not translated).

The biggest offense for me is Animal Kingdom Pirates. What the hell is that?

Does he translate admiral names as well? Red Dog, Yellow Monkey as Dogstorm and Catviper?

40 years ago, none of those people outside of Rocks were in their prime. Roger and Garp were.

We also don't know if WB betrayed Rocks, considering WB's relationship with Roger after, signs point to him not really fighting Roger/Garp in God Valley. Knowing what kind of person WB even is, it totally clashes with literally every other person in Rocks. Rocks, Kaido, BM and even Shiki all have some sort of destruction agenda, WB clearly doesn't.

I wouldn't shit on an event before actually seeing it. It was loosely teased in 1 panel, we need to wait for the inevitable Rocks flashback.
whitebeard would be wsm 2 yrs after
and shiki came to rival roger not long after.
they were pretty strong but betrayal isnt out of the picture.

Crocus was previously explored character, Laboon mini arc remember? So were Rayleigh, Shanks and Buggy. You know who they're and how they behave, they're characterized well.

And that's what I said, Gaban was the only unexplored Roger Pirate to have character moments, and enough dialogues and panel time to build up his character in a flashback that was tightly packed and fast paced.

If I'm not suffering from goldfish memory, of course.

Scars are really important in One Piece. For example, Luffy got injured many times - impaled by Crocodile, impaled by Katakuri and so on. But only scar he bears is the one given by Akainu (and that was cushioned by Jinbei).

Similarly, Zoro got injured so many times. But the one that he received from Mihawk is the one that sticks.

Basically Luffy and Zoro's scars are meant as a reminder to their failures. It is definitely not comparable to hairy calves (I can't believe I have to write it).

This
which is why I hate when people pass off that akainu fight to sabo or the mihawk fight to shiryu
that scar is a reminder

Zoro probably cut his own eye to resemble Rayleigh a bit because he knew Sanji was basically a young Rayleigh without a sword :suresure:

Stephen Paul translated Neko and Inu like that because at the time he asked Oda's team the reasoning behind their names, and it was essentially putting two animal names together hence why in the English wording he chose Catviper and Dogstorm.

Re. Zolo, that is out of his control. It's a technical/legal issue that has yet to be resolved.

Yup, just to clear things up. Does he get to interact with Oda or only his editors in your opinion?
Editors yes. Probably not Oda directly though as the editors would ask Oda on his behalf if need be.
