What made Orochimaru also stand out was the level of terror he caused on other characters, how he made the fearless Sasuke become paralyzed with terror in their first encounter and how utterly defeated he and Naruto were during it, it really felt hopeless to fight him. Shame how Kishimoto ruined him after.

How about the implications of the parallel between Loki and Luffy as fulfillments of prophecy? Loki’s entire life was colored by a bad interpretation of a prophecy that ended with his wrongful imprisonment. Luffy has also been destined according to prophecy to save the world and be exalted as a god when he wants nothing to do with it. Loki’s aggressive acceptance/surrender to the prophecy and its consequences is a unique foil to Luffy’s ignorance of his true identity and his prophesied future. What do you think of the potential internal conflict Luffy will face when he is being pressured by his friends and family to be the fulfillment of a prophecy he has no knowledge of?

Pain was also an aura merchant, he could have been the final villain. Had that backstory, had that vibe, had that drive. Instead, we got Uchiha wankfest and Kaguya out of no where.

Someone who had aura was Orochimaru before Kishimoto neteured him, he made one terrifying hell of impression during his introduction. No manga/anime antagonist has ever made such an impression and caused so much fear in me ever since.
