Wait, that wasn't a hatsu, was it? I thought Togashi said somewhere Meruem was an emitter.

Right I checked again and its his innate ability:

''FYI Meruem's ability to copy Nen abilities by ingesting other organisms isn't a Hatsu but his innate skill. Much like the Queen's Phagogenesis bestowed characteristics of creatures she ate to her offsprings. But in Meruem's case, he was born with ''Aura Synthesis'' which allows him to keep those characteristics for himself and use as he sees fit. His official Nen type is actually Emission.''​

but i guess chrono is right in that meruem is the strongest person who can also use nen. Most of his strength is from his insane physicals tho.

I deleted my long ass post because Im just gonna say this one simple thing. Gon made a vow with himself to be a version of himself that has trained for decades non stop. This version of himself where gon the MC of a Shounen was only thought to be able to reach the King and be a threat to him, this is pre rose Meruem btw the one who didnt grow even stronger after eating Pouf and Youpi.

The level Gon will reach is one he likely will never reach naturally in just base stats and aura unless you think Gon is the type of character to train constantly for decades like Netero did. And even if he did he would only reach around pre rose Meruems level.

So unless you think Ging is stronger then prime Gon who trained like a maniac this take is just not worth considering brother.

Yes, Meruem was born as the pinnacle of evolution, with infinite potential to grow.
He was essentially just the equivalent of an infant when he died. A Meruem who had followed his ant directives and hadn't somehow died, would've spent years/decades devouring people and taking their nen to essentially become a god.
