We typically meet the main villains early in the arc but don't see them seriously fight and be defeated until much later on
Wano literally started with Luffy getting clapped by Kaido, then Kaido fucks off for a good amount of chapters, then reappears and runs a gauntlet til G5 Luffy finishes him off.

If Elbaf really does turn into a modern God Valley with more HKs, SWORD, and possibly another Emperor crew showing up then I'd say we've got a long arc ahead of us. Even if it doesn't, its still an arc that's been hyped up for 2 decades, no way it's less than 50 chapters minimum.

I graduated college in May 2023 when Egghead was in its middle phase and Koby was facing Blackbeard lol

With interludes like Egghead had plus more factions arriving on Elbaf I could easily see it surpassing 100+ chapters. Egghead had at least 25 chapters added to its length just because of the cutaways to other parts of the world and I got the vibe that Oda's going to keep those around for the other final saga arcs since they're solid ways of showing characters even if they're not playing an active role in the current arc. I'm not sure how well they were received critically in Japan but over here I know most people's favorite moments in Egghead took place off the island itself.
