Moreover, the thing about Garp is that he's different from someone like Newgate (got an illness that deteriorated him over time; got even worse after Thatch and his cooking was no more) or Rayleigh (wasn't involved in a lot of fights, nevermind ones against high/top-tiers, in his later years). No, Garp was still not only continuing his training regiment, but also being heavily involved in the kind of Navy affairs that necessitate regular combat.
