Caribou is a huge player. A real wildcard. Some joke he's a spy for Imu but Oda definitely has something big for him. Ended helping Luffy vitally in a cover story, got his cover story where he was mistaken for a revolutionary hero and sort of became the same himself too, knows of 2 ancient weapons etc. Oda made him a recurring character for a reason.
Idk about the eyes but I've suspected like Jango, Lafitte, Miss Goldenweek, Bobbins I think etc, Imu can manipulate people using their eyes somehow. Like mind control. Oda keeps emphasising Imus eyes and I don't think it's just for dramatic effect and to show a blob having actual expression and such, there's something more imo.
Zunesha was allegedly cursed/sentenced to walk for a 1000 years and I recently dae a theory, maybe here or reddit that Zunesha was made to do this because it can destroy all the sunken cities and thus secretly wipe out their existence entirely.
I've always felt Imu forced Zunesha to do this somehow.

I dont think anything about IMU is implied, since we can't even agree if s/he has a crown or if that's the shape of their head.
But if Gunko changes appearances to more closely resemble IMU's, then that might tell us more about IMU's power, since this isn't a basic "eyes change to show mind control" situation anymore.
