buddy, that was meant to force them to burn stuff and get rid of anything the WG wants, by threatning to drop the kids from the tree through a broadcast.
Thats easier and extremely quickier than killing every single giant in the island and doing all the stuff by themselves.
That has nothing to do with Gaban approaching her and her being so concerned about coming close to him.
If stabbing the kids neck was such a must, she wouldn't have bodied the Strawhats, much less let Usopp burst her head her just for fun, she would've threatned to kill the kids straight away like he did here. And guess what? That was a must once she saw Gaban coming close, what a coicidence isn't it... yeah its a coincidence for sure.

And I never said killing the kids was a must. But it was an ultimatum they put forward two chapters back. And the fact that she didn't care if her powers killed them even before that ultimatum just reinforces that she would have killed them on a whim, so why act like she aimed for killing the kids because gaban showed up when she's shown time and time again that she would do it.
The entire reason she beat the strawhats was to get colon... to have another child as a hostage... because the intent of the kids was to be used as hostages. The strawhats weren't actively saving the kids when she showed up to beat their ass. They weren't even near them.
