There's no point to making it a mystery as it is already an etablished power the MC learned 150 chapters ago. Either it's not haki or a specific version of COA/COC/COOstraw hats (Luffy included) can't use yet.

You are not ready for the unforeseen Gaban-Chopper connection.
Chopper will save Gaban and treat him with some special medical technique. Gaban will comment on it, asking Chopper where he learned it. That's when Gaban will reveal to have met Hilluluk in the past.

Gaban will teach the Monster Trio the anti-regen hack.
He will give Nami navigational advice about their next destination, Lodestar.
And will shed more light on Hilluluk & Dr Kureha.

So it looks like it's more related to knowledge in how to affect

With that said, Gaban affecting them still doesn't nullify their immortality(Sommers is still alive), so most likely, they'd just be disabled in their battles without actually being killed(there are rare death cases in One Piece anyway)

Most likely the only way to completely remove the immortality would be to affect Imu directly(probably with the reverse process of the immortal surgery of the ope ope no mi, likely reason he is immortal in the first place)
