Live And Let Die.

Wait how reliable is this? I love spicy food...
I think it's more in the cases of EXTREMELY spicy food, like those extreme heat instant noodles that are a huge craze online and in Korea and such. Also Carolina Reaper, Ghost Pepper, Naga Viper etc type chillies? Consuming far too much of those, far too often type thing?

I've heard far too much chilli can wreck your stomach lining and sometimes I wonder if I have wrecked mine in the past with my major addiction to chillies a long time ago. They can definitely cause ulcers too.

Yes, excessive consumption of chili peppers, especially those very high in capsaicin, can negatively impact your stomach lining. Capsaicin, the compound responsible for the spicy heat, can irritate and inflame the stomach, potentially leading to discomfort, pain, and in some cases, more serious issues like ulcers.

Here's why:

Capsaicin Irritation:
Capsaicin, even in moderate amounts, can cause irritation to the stomach and intestinal lining.

Inflammation:
This irritation can lead to inflammation, a process where the body's immune system reacts to the damage, which can further irritate the stomach.

Stomach Pain and Discomfort:
Some individuals may experience abdominal pain, burning sensations, or even diarrhea after consuming chili peppers.

Potential for Ulcers:
While spicy food doesn't directly cause ulcers, it can irritate existing ulcers, making them more painful and potentially worsening their healing process.

Long-Term Effects:
In some cases, chronic inflammation and irritation from excessive chili consumption could potentially contribute to other gastrointestinal issues over time.

Hmm....

Experts have linked certain foods to an increased stomach cancer risk. While some research suggests that spicy foods are a risk factor, no conclusive evidence proves this

According to research, foods that increase a person’s risk of stomach cancer include salt-preserved fish, meat, and vegetables and processed, grilled, or charcoal-cooked meats.

So far, research has not found a causal link between spicy foods and stomach cancer. Furthermore, various studies have found that spicy foods may have positive health benefits, such as protecting against cancer.

It's important to remember that individual tolerance and sensitivity to spicy foods can vary. Some people may experience digestive discomfort from spicy foods, which, while not directly linked to stomach cancer, could potentially contribute to other stomach issues.

There's stuff like this to consider too:

Before her death, she shared what she believed were the reasons she developed late-stage stomach cancer at such a young age: regularly skipping breakfast, irregular eating patterns, a preference for spicy food, and eating carelessly for dinner due to dieting.

According to Guangming Online, the blogger known as Qianqian, aged 25, passed away in the early hours of May 24.

Her death was announced by her friends and family.

Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Journey

Qianqian was diagnosed in March last year with poorly differentiated advanced gastric adenocarcinoma.

Doctors performed a complete gastrectomy to remove her entire stomach.

However, the cancer returned just one month after treatment ended, spreading to her abdominal cavity.

During her battle with cancer, she documented her condition and daily life through social media posts. Her final blog entry appeared on 28 April 2025.

In that post, she wrote that she had been unconscious for an entire day, that her abdominal tumors were growing larger, and that she was awake for shorter periods.

She didn’t even feel like picking up her phone and was in extremely poor spirits.

Lifestyle Factors Behind Early-Onset Cancer

Qianqian identified several habits that potentially led to her developing advanced stomach cancer at 25. She regularly skipped breakfast and maintained irregular eating patterns.

Her diet included very spicy foods, despite having a sensitive digestive system
Only 25 years old too, that's so fucked up and sad. She really suffered immensely for a long time before dying too, fuck.

Actually Gastritis isn't cause by spicy food, but can make the symptoms worse and prevent it from healing.

Gastritis is mainly cause by H pylori, and the one who infected has a small chance of developing cancer later one.

But then again it's about genetics, I've seen people who've smoked for decades n had nothing, and the ones even with best lifestyle dying from cancer.

It's like conquerors haki, no matter what you do, if you're destined to die with it, you will.

Very reliable
Don't eat spicy food if it's causing you indigestion
Not true mate. Capsaicin, the chemical compound responsible for the spicy effect has quite positive effects to health. Studies have demonstrated that people who eat spicy food on a regular basis statistically tend to live longer, have less stress and better heart health. They showed that they may tend to have higher risk for esophagus cancer but they also showed that people who eat spicy food are less likely to experience death by cancer. But that's just random statistics with uncontrolled subjects, basically.

I guess the best approach would be to create 100 genetically identical lab rats and feed half of them spicy stuff all day and the others not. Certainly you'd see the direct effects within one or two generations. But rats aren't nearly as cracked as humans to eat that spicy stuff on a regular basis. So I guess one half wouldn't be compliant.

Moderacy is probably the key. But have you ever experienced a Pepper High? It's. Fucking. Amazing.

Ooooh, interesting thank you! A WorstGen-ius here! Yeah, I've heard of some extremely healthy people getting cancer or some other life threatening illness or whatever out of the blue, there's never a 100% guarantee to prevent anything like that no matter what we do and how we live our lives ofc.

That's really useful info, good to know. You really made it easy to understand too, thanks! That CoC haki analogy too haha, nice one.

I'm terrified as my dad has stage 4 prostate cancer supposedly, both my grandparents on my mums side of the family have a history of cancer throughout their families and my grandma had it, 2 of my uncles did too and god knows who else at this point. I've seen it take the life of one of my favourite teachers a long time ago and almost the life of the brother of one of my friends too, it's so fucked up.
