I think so. We never saw him facing a regen merchant but we saw what it did to God zoan awakening. It might not have the same effect on guys without regen. Can't be sure tho

Of course, Kaidou's Acoc in base is capable of splitting the skies, in drunk mode he surpasses the level of splitting the skies, I would say that to stop the regeneration completely and win you need to have Acoc at the level of splitting the skies... Roger, Shanks, Kaidou, Luffy, Big Mom and Whitebeard have this level of splitting the skies, while Yamato does not have it although he is experienced with it, and Gaban and Zoro still need to demonstrate that they can.

I’ll agree with you that pirates are one trick ponies with zero versatility, for example Aokiji can turn his fruit off and fist fight like Garp, Kizaru’s sword skill is on par with Rayleigh or Roger while also having many other combat methods like light kicks and projectiles and such.

Meanwhile Saint Shanks is a one trick pony sword fighter who could never fist fight like Garp in a million years, bro is basically some irrelevant bum compared to the Admirals just like his leech Mihawk. You won’t catch me defending trash like Saint Shanks who got his arm bitten off by a fish at the height of his rivalry with Failhawk.
